Commercial/Museum
- Customer: A major metropolitan museum located in Boston, MA
Customer
Need
The Museum has over 1000 daily customers enter the facility, 365 days
per year. The Museum was spending over $245,000 per year in water and
sewer charges. The citys water bills had risen dramatically over
a five-year period and site personnel recognized the opportunity to save
money through a program such as Aqualines.
Aqualine
Solution
Aqualines engineering study included profiling the museums
water consumption against many other commercial institutions Aqualine
has worked with. It was determined that implementing a domestic water
program would be an effective way to save water particularly because such
a high percentage of water use is in the bathrooms. Aqualine replaced
all toilets with 1.6 gallon per flush fixtures, and installed water saving
sink restrictors.
The site was particularly interested in the fact that the work could
be completed during the third shift, while the museum was closed to the
public. Feedback from the Director of Engineering Services was particularly
positive with regards to the transparent nature of the installation
and that some weeks went by before the water saving upgrades were noticed
from a user point of view.
